Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Award for Young Business Leaders (YBL) was established in 2003 to reward exceptional entrepreneurs within the entire nation.

For the past few years, the SME sector’s best minds have been distinguished with this prestigious award, recognizing their contributions to the city’s entrepreneurial community and their respective industries. The award also recognizes individuals and organizations who have aided the development of entrepreneurs across the UAE.

This year too the YBL awards honored young businesspeople in the UAE and Arab world which was presented by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

Bank Misr of Egypt, Badir Technology Incubator Initiative in Saudi Arabia, Zain Innovation Campus in Jordan, Polytechnic University in Palestine and the Bread for Education initiative in Jordan were awarded in the categories that support entrepreneurship.

The award also recognizes the Best Businessman and Businesswoman of 2017 which was given to Obaid bin Touk Al Marri and Dr Shaima Nawaf respectively.

Shaikha Budoor Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), was also recognized for her efforts in supporting the entrepreneurship community and was awarded with the Best Business Supporter Award.

The other awards included the ‘Best Supporting Private Entity for the Government Procurement Program’ which was awarded to Emirates Flight Catering. Emirati Jengan Industries Establishments, Feathers Fashion won and Emirati Bait Al Kandora Gents Tailoring won in the industries category, trade sector and in the clothing category respectively.

Oman based Five Oceans Environment Services was awarded as the best industrial project in the Arab world, Jordan based Mafoo3atCom in the service projects category and Oman based Nafath Renewable Energy won in the area of existing business projects.
